This Thursday, 14th November, multi-dimensional multi-instrumentalist and producer Emma-Jean Thackray releases her new single “Black Hole (Feat. Reggie Watts)” via Brownswood Recordings / Parlophone Records. This marks her first taste of new music since 2021’s widely celebrated debut album “Yellow”.
“Black Hole” is a delectable slice of P-funk, featuring surreal comedian and Brainfeeder signed musician Reggie Watts. Written, recorded, produced, mixed and performed by Emma-Jean, “Black Hole” showcases her extraordinary ability to merge sounds across myriad genres, channelling everything from jazz, pop, and soul to parliamentary-funk. Balancing intricate musicality with raw emotion is Thackray’s unmistakeable trademark.
Speaking on the making of the song, Emma tells us; “I wrote it, arranged it, produced it, played everything, recorded it, and mixed it, all on my own in my studio. That’s except for a mammoth performance from none other than Reggie Watts. I’ve been the biggest fan of Reggie for so many years and he’s one of my favourite performers. He’s such an incredible musician.”
