The six-track project features recent singles Am I Dumb, Fucking City and Change, and showcases Cobain’s most authentic and sonically expansive work to date. Blending elements of rock, jazz, R&B, hip hop, folk and breakbeat influences, Kizzy moves fluidly across genres while maintaining a cohesive emotional core.
Written over an 18-month period of sporadic studio sessions, the EP reflects a time of significant upheaval in Cobain’s life. Created during stretches of sofa surfing and following a series of personal losses, including the deaths of loved ones and the end of key relationships, the record captures themes of love, loneliness, abuse and transformation. At its heart, however, Kizzy is about acceptance: a meditation on endings, and the resilience required to honour life’s beauty in spite of them.
The EP takes its name from Cobain’s dog, who passed away as the project neared completion, adding another layer of emotional weight to the release. It stands as a transitional body of work, bridging past hardship with a renewed sense of clarity and purpose.
Speaking on the release, Cobain describes the EP as a turning point: “Kizzy marks a point of humility in my journey. I’ve learnt the beauty of boundaries and the boundless and I’m ready to see what these lessons bring.”
With this release, Bel Cobain continues to carve out a distinctive space in the UK’s alternative music landscape, one defined by emotional honesty, genre fluidity and a commitment to growth through adversity.
This release comes in a limited edition orange coloured vinyl, aswell as being released digitally everywhere. You can access both formats here!
