We’re excited to welcome our newest signing Bel Cobain to the Brownswood family.
Hailing from the heart of East London, Bel Cobain is an enigmatic singer whose work carries a quiet mystique reminiscent of artists such as Pink Floyd and Kate Bush. Bel’s music finds its fullest expression on stage, where vulnerability transforms into confidence and connection; it’s here that she reveals her most authentic self, grounded, assured, and completely present.
Bel first emerged in 2019 with the evocative single “Introverted Stoner,” introducing audiences to her emotionally rich songwriting and distinctive vocal presence. This was followed by her candid debut EP Radical Forgiveness in 2023, a project that further cemented her reputation as an artist unafraid to explore complexity, contradiction, and emotional truth. Since then, Bel has graced some of the UK and Europe’s most revered stages, including Glastonbury, Love Saves The Day, Love Supreme, Jazz Cafe, and The Roundhouse, alongside captivating performances across Paris, Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Cologne, and The Netherlands.
Inspired by nature, love, and storytelling, Bel’s music transcends conventional boundaries, blending the organic and the otherworldly into something entirely her own.
Today, Thursday 29th January, the Hackney-born singer announces her powerful new single “Am I Dumb“. A confronting and emotionally charged track, the song peers directly into Bel’s internal dialogue, grappling with self-blame and fractured perception. Her commanding vocals glide over a pacey, percussive instrumental, rich with eerie, emotive textures. Lyrically, it captures the push and pull of a toxic dynamic; the cycle of leaving, learning, and somehow always returning.
Speaking on the single, Bel shares:
“Am I Dumb is about questioning your own sanity. Inside a chaotic dynamic, there’s barely any time to stop and really evaluate what’s happening or make clear decisions. Over time, blatant disrespect begins to blur into grey vagueness, and everything starts to lose its shape, leaving me with one question: am I dumb for that? It’s one of the angrier tracks I’ve written, documenting the real madness of grief (or impending grief) in certain moments. It’s not the prettiest, but it’s brutally honest and that’s what’s most important for me in my art.”
With her uncompromising honesty, evocative sound world, and a fearless approach to storytelling, Bel Cobain is a truly vital voice, and we’re thrilled to begin this next chapter together.
