This house track signed Laroye, comes alongside a dub remix and instrumental, and is a remix of Galliano’s original acid jazz tune ‘Circles Going Round The Sun’, which featured on their latest album ‘Halfway Somewhere’ released earlier this year.
On what the track means to him, Galliano’s very own Rob Gallagher tells us; “The Laroye circles mix was sent to Gilles, who sent it on to me. I instantly loved it because it traced dynamics in the tune and let the whole feeling flow in a new way, while following the same route. It lets the music and lyrics exist in the sonics of subs and overtones that allows dance music to fold into itself at the volumes it’s built for. Sometimes a remix can be remade so that it becomes the only consideration; this is an idea that has burst its banks and runs over new ground but still the same route being traced.”
Tom Laroye, the incredible remixer of this track, added; “To do this remix, I’ve dug into my inspiration from the soulful Techno sound of Detroit : Underground resistance, Carl Craig, Recloose … I really think Techno has no boundaries, It uses codes from jazz, soul, disco house and beyond… The perfect sound to travel through the different places, eras and genres Earl Zinger is talking about. Classic TR 909/707 drum machine sounds for the beat and big filtered string samples quickly became the main foundation of the track, moving and evolving with the story.”
When asked for final words on the remix, Gilles Peterson said; “Laroye takes this tune to another dimension, managing to maintain the euphoric message perfectly.”
