Skinny Pelembe is back on the road. The Johannesburg-born, Doncaster-raised artist tours new album, Dreaming Is Dead Now, his masterful debut that dices sun-dazzled California folk with UK bass pressure.
The vocalist, guitarist and beatmaker mixes intimate reflections with the bigger picture; his lyrics, drawn from his nightly dream diary, touch on personal milestones and modern day Britain.
These latest dates follow a busy twelve months, with festival appearances at Glastonbury, Green Man, 6 Music Festival and the inaugural We Out Here. He’s toured the UK and Europe, as well as support slots with the Maribou State and James Lavelle’s UNKLE at the Royal Festival Hall. He’s been praised by the Observer, for “his tantalising sound”, been supported widely on BBC 6 Music and 1xtra (by the likes of Mary Ann Hobbs, Lauren Laverne, Gilles Peterson, Tom Ravenscroft and Jamz Supernova), and recorded live sessions for The Vinyl Factory and Worldwide FM.
