Yussef Dayes Wins Ivor Novello Award!

Congratulations to Yussef Dayes for winning the UK's Ivor Novello Award for Best Album with his debut solo studio album “Black Classical Music”!

The Ivor Academy, known for celebrating songwriters and screen composers, honored Yussef along with his collaborators Rocco Palladino and Charlie Stacey. “Black Classical Music” released last September, with Dayes distinctive drum licks and Rocco Palladino’s bass are the sturdy anchors; aided by Charlie Stacey (keys/synths), Venna (saxophone), Alexander Bourt (percussion), and a whole host of honourable features including: Chronixx, Masego, Jamilah Barry, Tom Misch, Elijah Fox, Shabaka Hutchings, Miles James, Sheila Maurice Grey, Nathaniel Cross, Theon Cross and the Chineke! Orchestra, the first professional orchestra in Europe to be made up of majority Black and ethnically diverse musicians.

Released this past January, the eight-song follow-up, The Yussef Dayes Experience: Live From Malibu, includes music from Black Classical Music and additional tracks. Dayes is joined by his longtime collaborators Palladino, Venna, Elijah Fox, and Alexander Bourt.
